Thank you! This problem had bugged me for weeks. Your solution cured the problem. I'm so miffed with the "itunes" program that it should have caused this serious annoyance.

Hi,
Thanks for the article.
I too get that error message after trying to start a previously reliable machine. The last time it ran proplerly was only a few hours ago.
The mouse fails to work, though the light is on underneath and the keyboard does nothing too, the Cap' Lock light can not be made to come on.
Hence I am not able to provide get a report of the problem.
I tried the command you recomended: chmod 1777 /tmp
- no improvement and the same error message.
Is there anythign else I could try?
